Culture Shock in the USA

Carolyn Michaelis

How the Photo was Taken

I took this photo with a canon rebel t4i. We were driving across country in a rented rv, exploring the entirety of the west coast when we happened to drive by this scene. I grabbed my camera and snapped a photo as quick as I could. This was definitely not something you usually see on the west coast.

Photo Location

We passed this scene in Bothell Washington, sometime between 10 am and 2 pm. I felt as if this photo really displayed the dedication some people put into their passions. In this person's case, decorating with flags. I felt as if it showed strangers a small glimpse of what this person's life was like. To me it shows the pride some people possess, and the openness to express it for everyone to see.

About the Author

Carolyn Michaelis

My name is Carolyn Michaelis, and being the daughter of a man in the United States Navy, I have travelled all over the U.S. From coast to coast with camera in hand, I don't like to forget the places I've been to or the things I've seen. In every small corner of the country there are little quirky things here and there that we never think of, nor could we imagine. I'm studying animal behavior and criminal justice in college now, and always have my camera.
