Afar Salt-Miners of the Danakil – Ethiopia

How the Photo was Taken

Taken with a simple digital camera, the Cannon Powershot SX710 HS. No filters used, brightness slightly lowered (it’s very bright in the Danakil depression!) but otherwise not altered.

Photo Location

The salt flats of the Danakil Depression in eastern Ethiopia. The hottest place on earth (in terms of year-round temperature) it is a particularly inhospitable place. The Afar are seriously tough people.
