Surfing in Hikkaduwa Sri Lanka

How the Photo was Taken

I took this photo with my Canon Powershot SX40HS DSLR. This camera has a fixed lens superzoom, so it’s great for zooming in on distant objects without the need to change lens. All I did, after I spotted this guy surfing and doing a pretty good job, was to point, zoom in, and shoot. The only alteration I did was to use Windows 10 inbuilt photo viewer to enhance it a little.

Photo Location

I was sitting in Funky de Bar in Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka in January 2018, New Years day actually. I had just arrived from the UK on my way back to Bangkok and I stopped off for a few days to visit a friend. We were sitting there having a few new year drinks, around 5.00pm, and I spotted the surfers out at sea. They made surfing look so easy and they looked like they were having fun, and when I look at this photo, it reminds me on the fun times I had in Sri Lanka.
