WSGT’s award welcomes two new judges onboard!

If you haven’t heard the big news yet: Starting May 4th, our contests will be no more and in their place will be a brand new award! With this award, we will be welcoming two fantastic judges onboard alongside the existing team for all WSGT contests.

Our first judge, Cynthia Dial, is an internationally-published journalist; she regularly appears as a travel specialist on radio and television due to her extensive travels throughout all seven continents where she’s attempted Argentina’s tango, canoed in the Amazon and ridden a Harley-Davidson throughout Melbourne, all for a good story.

The author of Get Your Travel Writing Published, her work has also appeared in TIME, Shape, Fit, Costco Connection, Destination Weddings & Honeymoons, Hemispheres, Mabuhay (Philippine Airlines in-flight) and more. She was a columnist for the Toronto Star (Canada’s largest daily newspaper), and frequently appears as a travel specialist on radio and television.

When not covering the world’s unusual objects, places, and people for such publications as Atlas Obscura and Paste Magazine or writing her monthly travel column for En Voyage magazine, she is either deciding where she wants to go next or teaching writing classes in Long Beach, California.

She is currently at work revising her dissertation, Toward a Feminist Travel Perspective, a partly-autobiographical project in which she argues for digital media users to adopt feminist practices while documenting their travels.

We couldn’t be more excited to have these two qualified individuals onboard for our award, and hope to have plenty of interest and engagement from the writing community as we launch into this new era.
