While in Hsipaw, we wandered the town and saw many changes. The movie theater is gone and there is a brand new bank and store that sells solar panels. Most people still wear traditional longyi and there are many types of trucks and tractors in the street. We stayed in a $20 fan room at Mr. Charles. We ate dinner by candlelight on the main street one night when the power was out all over town. Dinner for 4 with beer, whisky and water with delicious Shan Noodle Soup for $5usd.
After our hike to the waterfall, we returned to town it was time to meet Mr. Shake also known as Ywan Ywan near the Central Pagoda on Nam Ma Dhu Street. I immediately chose an ice cream swirl with mint and taro flavors (the only two he had). October 5, 2012
