Gigantic Gift: A Girlfriend Getaway in Grapevine Texas

Recently I attended Travel Media Showcase in Grapevine, Texas which I highly recommend.

Before the conference began, I had the gigantic gift of being invited on a Girlfriend Getaway with nine other wonderful women writers. We dined, drank and painted our way through town.

I loved walking on Main Street to the Farmer’s Market with Kelly Stilwell from Virtually Yours. She tasted fresh organic figs as well as orange watermelon from a nearby farm. I had never eaten orange watermelon and it was a sweet treat.

Our day included wine tasting at Homestead Winery, Farina’s and Sloan & Williams. This area is called Grapevine because it is where they grow the Texas grapes. At Dino’s Steak & Claw, it became obvious that you are with travel bloggers if everyone at the table gets up and needs a photo of your food!

During Travel Media Showcase, I was thrilled with the professional meetings with incredible destinations. At night, we had the chance to party Texas style at the Glass Cactus. There was music, dancing and of course fantastic Texas BBQ. I was able to interview the Mayor of Grapevine, William D. Tate. He has been mayor since 1988 and grew up in Grapevine where his father was also the Mayor.

For Travel Media Showcase 2016, our conference hotel was the gigantic and delightful Gaylord Texan in Grapevine Texas.

I loved being at the hotel during Summer Fest. The theme for 2016 is Alice and Wonderland. I loved the sand castle sculpture, the Mad Matter’s Hat with chairs on the ceiling and taking a picture as tweedle dee and tweedle dum.

My room had a balcony with a view of the action. There is so much to discover here! You can swim at Paradise Springs Water Park or the indoor or outdoor pools. There is a fitness center, many restaurants and it is all connected to the convention center where we had our TMS 2016 conference. I look forward to TMS 2017 in Cabarrus North Carolina.

I traveled from Los Angeles to Grapevine Texas for the Travel Media Showcase and for our Girlfriend Getaway we stayed at the Courtyard Grapevine. There is a market in the lobby that is open 24 hours and the restaurant on the first floor by the pool had a great selection any time of day. There is a fitness center and an outdoor pool which you can see in my video of the property.

For our first dinner together, we ate at Winewood and ordered every single dessert on the menu. It was so fun to share our wine, chocolate and stories. Thank you to the Travel Media Showcase Team, Go With Hub and Grapevine for a wonderful experience! Lisa Niver, Founder We Said Go Travel
