FIG & Fairmont Miramar for Summer: Where Wilshire Meets the Sea

I am often asked, “What should we do for our summer vacation?” I have been fortunate to travel around the world several times and I have to admit, I love Los Angeles. I have lived on the beach in Thailand, in Jerusalem and traveled for months at a time in India, Nepal and Indonesia.

Lisa and Chef FIGMy suggestions for what should you do this summer? Stroll on the beach in Santa Monica. Los Angeles is a top choice for travelers. Whether you are looking for somewhere to fly to or the perfect stay-cation, I recommend the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows.

Waking up at Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows, located at Wilshire and Ocean, is a great start to any day. The location is fantastic and the food at Fig is phenomenal. I have enjoyed Chef Yousef Ghalaini’s creations many times and can highly recommend the locally sourced farm fresh ingredients. My recent lunch included Kale Tabbouli with Fregola, Castelveltrano Olives, Radishes, Mint and Sumac as well as tasty fish tacos. I built my own rice bowl for lunch; I chose lemon herb chicken breast with organic brown rice and citrus soy.

For breakfast, lunch or dinner, there is always something new to try as FIG serves seasonally inspired Mediterranean influenced dished that are now cooked on the wood burning oven and wood burning grill. Come see their new wood fire oven and new ceramic plates. I am a potter and I notice the dishes! I do think it makes a difference what food is served on and attention to detail is one of the things Fairmont Hotels do best.

Make sure to sit by the pool, take a class at Exhale, have a shave at Lloyd’s, and visit the ZenBunni Rabbit Hole for their beyond organic chocolate creations. I hope you get to meet Alchemy, their delightful four year old salesperson, who will tell you all about the 13 flavors.

First established in 1921, the property is less than one mile from Santa Monica Pier and only eight miles from Getty Center art Museum. I love this location and the feeling of being under the  127 year old Australian Morton Bay Fig Tree.

Stop by FIG at FIVE from 5pm – 6pm daily for their incredible happy hour promotion, everything on the menu is 50%! There are no reservations and it can get busy but this is a great option to test out the menu and enjoy the property.

Are these #fish #tacos calling your name? Thank you @figsantamonica @lebanesechef #grateful #lunch
