“Cindy is not just an incredible businesswoman, she’s also extremely generous and caring. She has created an exclusive Artist Series Burger for Umami to help support pediatric cancer research at the University of Wisconsin and American Family Children’s Hospital where her younger brother was once treated for leukemia,” said Sam Nazarian, Founder and CEO of sbe, Umami Burger’s majority shareholder. “We are pleased to collaborate with both Cindy and Rande to amplify the Umami Burger experience for our guests while backing an important cause.”
What is the Cindy’s Casa Burger?
It is made with two jalapeño-studded beef patties and topped with crushed avocado, butter lettuce, oven roasted tomato, miso-mustard, caramelized onions, American cheese, house spread, tortilla chips, salsa brava and queso fresco. To complement Cindy’s Casa Burger, Rande Gerber – Crawford’s real-life pairing and Casamigos Tequila founder – has created Rande’s Spicy Margarita, an exclusive Casamigos Tequila cocktail available at Umami Burger.
“Growing up in a small town, I loved classic American comfort food, and nothing is more classic than an American cheeseburger. Rande who owns Casamigos Tequila, also inspired my burger,” said Cindy Crawford. “Cindy’s Casa Burger is slightly spicy, blending together classic Mexican and American flavors with an umami twist. The tortilla chips are tossed in a chilaquiles-style salsa brava and dusted with queso fresco for layers of flavor, and the heat from the jalapeño is balanced by American cheese, avocado spread, tomato and butter lettuce.”
Cindy’s Casa Burger is available for $14 at participating Umami Burger locations nationwide from March 17 to May 12, 2017, with $1 from the sale of each burger and cocktail benefitting American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, Wisc. and its “Fighting Cancer So Kids Won’t Have To” campaign.
In fall 2016, American Family Children’s Hospital and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center joined forces to launch a new childhood cancer fundraising effort at the University of Wisconsin. “Fighting Cancer So Kids Won’t Have To” is a campaign that supports childhood cancer research taking place on campus. The campaign’s vision is not only to save every patient but also to eliminate the risks that come with traditional cancer treatments, aiming to transform cancer from a life-threatening disease into a treatable and manageable one.”
