Lindos, on the Island of Rhodos in the Aegean Sea, is by far one of my favorite ocean travel destinations. The ruins are captivating, as are the stories of island’s the ancient cities. I love to wander among the fallen columns and flowered landscapes, to search for clues to understand what happened so many years ago.
I love the sights and I love the food. Greek feta cheese just is unlike the feta of any other country. Sipping wine by the water while eating freshly-caught fish, listening to waiters speak English with a Greek accent brings me closer to heaven. I personally cannot wait to visit again the Greek islands. Of course the Parthenon in Athens is worth another visit, too.
I always recommend visiting Greece to anyone traveling to Europe. I have been watching the news of the country’s economic troubles and hope that the people will find ways to deal with the the financial crisis. I trust that tourism will be a part of the recovery of this area. I am concerned that the low prices being offered are not helping the locals:
The travelling public should not, however, believe that at that price the tour operator is making a profit. On the contrary, at such a price the operator is losing several hundred pounds and is only selling at such a low rate because it is better to earn something rather than have a flight seat — accommodation — go empty.
Please go visit! Pay attention to using your travel dollars wisely. You can have wonderful memories. You can be a small part of the solution to Greece’s current woes.
