Today, WSGT is interviewing Lisa Hennessy of DreamJobbing, a platform for finding global opportunities and life-changing experiences. DreamJobbing is also hosting the unique event ESCAPE: A Digital Detox in Thailand, the chance for five chosen individuals to leave it all behind (literally) and be 100 per cent present in a stunning place for 12 days. We Said Go Travel is, of course, a big fan of exploring the world; so how is DreamJobbing and their Digital Detox helping people get out there and have truly amazing experiences? Let’s see:
Is this Filmed Digital Detox the first of it’s kind? Have you hosted others in the past?
This will be the first time. I think this is such a timely idea – so many people are getting overwhelmed by technology and information. They need a break.
What has the general reaction been from people surrounding the Digital Detox?
80 people have applied already. They all seem really in-need of disconnecting. When I talk about it with friends and family, a lot of people say how much they need it but that they are scared they wouldn’t be able to do it. Most people I know are truly addicted. I feel it’s a really important topic to start discussing.
How will the Digital Detox benefit participants? And viewers?
For the cast this will be a chance to unplug from technology and get back to nature, adventure and personal connections. I think this will be a life-changing experience for them. For the viewer they will be able to live vicariously through the cast and be inspired by the journey. Hopefully it encourages the viewer to head to Thailand, unplug and go on their own adventure.
Participants must upload a video application to take part in the Digital Detox. How will you choose who goes and who doesn’t?
The producers will choose the cast based on personality and back story.
What does success look like in terms of putting together and pulling off this Digital Detox?
This is a timely social experiment. I hope the cast, crew and viewers are inspired to unplug and head out on adventures as much as possible.
How is DreamJobbing different from other job boards?
DreamJobbing is much more than a job board. We call ourselves an opportunity/career platform. We give applicants an easy-to-use tool kit to help get them on the path for a dream career and life. The tool kit includes opportunity listings (short-term and full-time), the ability to make a video profile, ability to connect with a mentor as well as an inspirational blog and content.

Our audience is global and ranges from 18 to 60. We encourage all ages to use our platform.

Since the average person spends most of their day working, it’s important to have a career that you are passionate about and want to get up every morning to do!
What would you recommend to someone looking to change their life course and career?
It’s never too late to change your career. It’s just a matter of making the decision then doing it instead of merely thinking about it.
Has there been a particularly inspiring story from someone who has used DreamJobbing?
There are so many. Arnold Lan, a 24-year-old student from Toronto, Canada, landed the dream gig to be a photographer in Norway when he was a senior in college. That experience gave him the courage to start his own photography company after he graduated.
Where is DreamJobbing heading in the future?
